Happy New Year! Wishing you all a joyous one!
As we enter 2025, I've had time to reflect on the old and work on plans for the new.
Last year, my time was largely taken up with the exhibition at the Hub at St Mary's in Lichfield (see last blog.) I have always wanted to be able to hold a solo exhibition so it's something I can proudly tick off my bucket list.
"Putting all your eggs in one basket" certainly applied. I found it all consuming, a little stressful (very stressful on occasions) and if I am honest, I neglected other areas of my little art business where I had planned to put in more time. However, there is only one of me and painting takes a lot of time. Much as I wish I could, I simply cannot stretch myself out too thinly or paint any quicker! This arty life is very much an endless learning curve and I am definitely still learning how to juggle and balance things effectively!
I am glad I took the plunge and if I had the chance, I would probably do another exhibition one day ... but give me a while to recover! I was delighted to see paintings go to forever homes. I received enquiries for prints too so this is something on this year's "to do" list. I was also honoured to do a special birthday commission based on one of the paintings in the exhibition. It has certainly been a busy time.
All in all a positive experience and hearing such lovely feedback from visitors to the exhibition is always welcome, like a warming hot chocolate for the soul.
I did manage a few other commissions throughout the year between painting for the exhibition. The latest commissions are a collection slate hearts, pictured below, which are now hanging in a beautiful chalet in the French Alps (slightly different style to my usual.)

Thank you for reading! I'm really looking forward to getting stuck in to more painting!
Love
